»The Practical Ontologist«

I'll take all the help I can get.

First and foremost: You can help support this site by telling more people about it. By letting more people know, by raising awareness, then the purpose of this site — to showcase online philosophy — will be achieved. All links to this site, posts telling people about it, and social media mentions are appreciated.

To support the infrastructure of the site and my efforts, you can buy something from Mind’s Eye Candy, which is my own little shop of philosophy oriented designs. Alternatively, you can pay for my server time by signing up with Digital Ocean, using this referral link, and spending $25. You get a free $10 credit just for signing up with my link. Or just send me coin.

I’m also willing to advertise other people’s wares. Advertisements take two forms on The Practical Ontologist: banner ads and content ads. To get a feel for what ads will look like, see a mock-up here. Contact me at

Advertisements should be a good fit for the readership of the The Practical Ontologist. They should be directed at someone looking for an interesting, engaged experience.

If you are an early-career philosopher or a non-profit organization working to promote philosophy, please contact me for discounted or gratis advertising. For instance, if you are a junior philosopher with your first book being being released, I will consider running a free ad for your publication. Email me with all relevant info: your name, institution, publication, et cetera.
There are no guarantees to this service: I will do it so long as it is economically feasible and not taking up too much of my time. Selection for discounted or gratis advertising is completely subject to my own arbitrary, non-transparent, biased and generally random decision making procedures. Don't ask me why one thing was selected and not something else -- I don't have a good answer -- because, at best, I flipped a coin.

Banner ads are images ~728x90 pixels in dimension and run in between sections:

Content ads can have images ~300x250 pixels in dimension with caption, or else contain text, looking as if they were normal posts:
